Biolution has assembled a visualization pipeline based on the multidisciplinary expertise of its team and more than a decade of experience in explaining research. The inspiration was to generate affordable animations, which are rooted in scientific accuracy and extend into inspiring dynamic visualizations. It is our ambition to support researchers in their communication tasks with a dynamic representation of their favorite molecule or molecular process.

Importing coordinates from the RCSB-protein data bank into our work flow, we interact closely with researchers to develop a dynamic 3D-model of the molecule of choice. Together with the expert, we aim to develop a visualization, which meets the standards of scientific accuracy suitable for a research conference presentation and at the same time inspires a sense of wonder about the beauty of natural processes.

Our Work Process

If you require attractive images or a video to support the communication of an outstanding research finding or seek to visualize the mode of action of a new drug candidate in a molecular animation, biolution will be ready to work with you.

01. idea to concept

One major challenge is to transform the scientific idea into a coherent concept which is suitable for a cost-effective technical 3 D implementation. Our experienced life scientists will support you in this process and discuss with you various possibilities taking in consideration all your concerns. After this briefing we will present a conceptual draft serving as basis for further actions.

02. concept to storyboard

The next step would be to define single scenes. In order to give you an overview of the whole project, we will prepare a storyboard. Our 3D artists will 3 D sketch already defined scenes taking into account your branding references, final look & feel (mood board) or other specific preferences.

03. storyboard to animation

After approving the storyboard, we will previsualize the scenes. Boards are brought into an editing program and are cut together with the correct timing and pace of the video. They include basic sound effects, dialogue recordings and scratch soundtrack. You have now the opportunity to see if what you have planned edits together well and if a sequence, or the whole film, is as entertaining as you hoped. After approving the animatics we will render and match everything to match the desired quality and style.
